Are Targeted Ads An Invasion of Privacy?

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! This week in class we are discussing the power of advertising. You can probably guess by the title of my blog what this week's post will be about! This week I'm going to be talking about advertising and whether it's truly an invasion of privacy.  Let's start with the definition of advertising! Advertising is the occupation where advertisements are produced for different products or goods to promote them. Without advertising and advertisements, companies wouldn't be able to easily promote the products that they sell.  Have you ever thought about a specific brand or product and somehow that brand or product magically appears on your social media feed? Have you ever googled a brand and then an ad for that brand popped up on your social media feed? Seriously, this has happened to me so many times and I always felt weirded out by it.  Targeted advertising is an online form of advertising that targets specific traits, interests...

I Just Had A Vision.....

"Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality." -- Warren G. Bennis "A leader without vision is like a piano player without a piano or a kite without wind." -- Jonathan Michael Bowman  There are two similar words in both of these quotes. Can you find it? The word I'm referring to is "leader" and "vision". A leader is someone who motivates individuals to push themselves/company to a specific goal or vision. A vision is having the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. When I combined the definitions, this is what I came up with: A leader with a vision is someone who motivates their company or team to accomplish goals that will positively affect them in the future.    This week in class we talked about leadership and vision. We discussed how important it is for leaders to have a vision. A leader without a vision cannot take their work to new heights. I believe that when leaders have a plan/vision f...

Servant Leadership---- The Key to a Successful Future?

Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. you don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve.... You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. --- Martin Luther King, Jr.  Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!  Based on the title of this post and the quote above, you can probably guess that this post will be about servant leadership. This week in class we have been talking about methods of internal and external communications and we read an article about The Art of Servant Leadership . After I finished reading the article I knew that I wanted to dig a little deeper about servant leadership and that brings me here today!  Today we're going to focus on traditional and servant leadership and why I believe that servant leadership is the key to a successful future.  Leadership Styles and Communication  So you may be wondering what leadership styles have to do with commu...

What Did You Say, Listen, Hear ..... Or See 👀

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I'm glad that you decided to read my blog for another week.  Let's jump right on in!  This week in class we discussed viral videos, and how to listen effectively. This blog posting is going to explore both of these topics. Let's start with viral videos! I'm pretty sure that you know what a viral video is. Right? If not let me break it down for you, a viral video is a popular video that circulates the internet and social media through shares, posts, and discussions. This week in class we watched various Ted Talk videos about viral videos and how it happens. Prior to new developments in the world of social media, most videos that were posted to youtube were not posted with the hopes of going viral but ended up going viral over time. Compared to today, it seems that everyone wants to go viral or at least is trying to. Different social media sites especially Tik Tok have made it extremely easy for everyday people to go viral beca...
