Close your eyes and take a trip back in time!

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!

Wow, I can't believe that is my ninth blog posting! By the title of this post, I'm sure you could maybe be a little confused. I want us to take a trip back in time and reflect with one another. These past several weeks have been joyous to me! I have loved uploading content onto my blog and I tried my best to show my personality through it! My favorite posts from the blog thus far have been: I Just Had A Vision....., What Did You Say, Listen, Hear or See....., Canceled Culture: The Fight to not be......... Canceled? and Are Targeted Ads an Invasion of Privacy? Which blog posting did you enjoy reading the most? We have talked about leadership, canceled culture, visions, laggards, innovators and so much more. This has been a joy, hopefully, everything that I've talked about is able to be applied to your everyday lives. I won't be posting as much as I normally have been, but I will still be uploading content.

I'll see you all online soon, but until then I want you to remember that “We always see our worst selves. Our most vulnerable selves. We need someone else to get close enough to tell us we’re wrong. Someone we trust.” -David Levitha

Keep being authentically you,

Makayla Cameron

Crowdsourcing in a Digital Era

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. This week in class we talked about different topics related to communications such as politics, crowdsourcing, and the global impact of emerging media. Although we discussed a range of topics, I want to focus this blog posting specifically on crowdsourcing. With the emergence of social media and our world become more digital by the day, crowdsourcing is a tool that can benefit communication professionals around the world.  picture from gep.com What is crowdsourcing? According to the Oxford dictionary, crowdsourcing is the practice of obtaining information or input into into a task or project by enlisting the services of a large number of people, either paid or unpaid, typically via the internet. Crowdsourcing is a relatively new marketing tool and according to gep.com "crowdsourcing is still in the infancy stage, and in the future marketers will likely strive to adopt this model for other marketing subcategories," (2021).  Exam...

Are Targeted Ads An Invasion of Privacy?

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! This week in class we are discussing the power of advertising. You can probably guess by the title of my blog what this week's post will be about! This week I'm going to be talking about advertising and whether it's truly an invasion of privacy.  Let's start with the definition of advertising! Advertising is the occupation where advertisements are produced for different products or goods to promote them. Without advertising and advertisements, companies wouldn't be able to easily promote the products that they sell.  Have you ever thought about a specific brand or product and somehow that brand or product magically appears on your social media feed? Have you ever googled a brand and then an ad for that brand popped up on your social media feed? Seriously, this has happened to me so many times and I always felt weirded out by it.  Targeted advertising is an online form of advertising that targets specific traits, interests...

Is Mobile-First Our New Reality?

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!  Many of us have seen the evolution of smart devices. Growing up the first cell phone I had was a flip phone. I thought that it was the coolest thing ever because  I could finally talk on the phone without actually having to be at home or in the house, plus it even had internet. I was stoked! I never imagined that in such a short period of time we would have so many technology-driven advances that the cell phone I had then would not be beneficial for the lifestyle I have not. The cellphone I had then wouldn't be able to carry my favorite apps or handle all of the files that I have on my phone. To many of us, our cellphones are our lifelines and we couldn't live without them and we wouldn't want to. We use our cell phones in every aspect of our lives whether we realize it or not. The lifestyle we live now is driven by smart devices and our jobs and companies rely heavily on smart devices to operate.  Mobile-First Approach This we...
